EARMOLD STYLES

RECEIVER

Ordinarily used with hearing instruments having an external receiver which is snapped into the clip ring in the mold. It fills the entire concha and is used mostly for body type instruments. Also used for auditory trainer molds, pilot molds, anesthesiologist molds, stethoscope molds. (Available in ALL materials).

SKELETON

This style offers excellent retention, yet is very lightweight. It is completely cut out, leaving only the outer ring. This offers very good concealment as well as comfort. (Available in ALL materials and acoustic modifications).

SEMI-SKELETON

This style is basically a skeleton with the upper portion of the concha ring removed. In most cases it offers as much retention as the skeleton and is lighter. This is an excellent selection when the ear is not undercut in the upper concha and full retention can be obtained in the helix and anti-tragus. (Available in ALL materials and acoustic modifications).

CANAL WITH OR WITHOUT LOCK

This is the least conspicuous and lightest of all molds. The canal is used with mild through high gain BTE instruments. The anti-tragus and tragus portion of the ear should be undercut to provide adequate retention. (Available in ALL materials and acoustic modifications).

SHELL

The shell is similar to the receiver type but without the snap ring. The center is contoured to reduce the weight of the mold. This style takes advantage of the ear’s full retention. It is used mostly with severe and profound hearing losses. Also used for auditory trainer molds. (Available in ALL materials and acoustic modifications).

HALF SHELL

This style is a modified shell. The anti-helix and parts of the upper concha of the mold are removed. It provides better retention than the canal mold and is used in many cases when the canal mold will not provide proper retention. (Available in ALL materials and acoustic modifications).

PATRIOT

The Patriot earpieces are hollow in the canal area and made of extremely soft material, providing excellent comfort. Because of this design, Patriots are less likely to unseat due to jaw motion.

TechSeal

The TechSeal permits boosting high frequency sound without causing aggravating feedback experienced with other earpieces. Its versatility is unmatched, covering both severe and profound losses, as well as mild and moderate losses and acoustic modifications.

MCT

M.C.T. earpieces are great for high frequency losses and other losses not greater than 60db at 1kHz.
All but eliminates the "voice in the barrel" (occlusion effect) problem.Requires less venting, thereby reducing the risk of acoustic feedback.

Slim Tube/RIC Earpieces

If you have been searching far and wide for an open fit earpiece your search ends here. These open fit earpieces can be used with today's popular thin tubing or even conventional tubing

SPECIALITY EARPIECES

Anesthesiologist Earpieces

An anesthesiologist or stethoscope mold is a receiver with a ring. Attached is a metal adaptascope with 1 ft. of tubing, more if requested.

Janssen

The Janssen earpiece leaves the canal and entrance unobstructed. The deeper the sound outlet, the greater the usable gain.

ER 9, 15, 25

Custom Musician Earplugs have 3 choices of interchangeable filters . ER9, ER15 or ER25. The filters come in the standard style, partially countersunk or completely countersunk.

Pilot Earpieces

A pilot mold is a receiver with a ring. The most popular material is Lucite acrylic. If requested we can add a male adapter with tubing (you specify length).

Racing Sets

A race car driver set is made of two full shell molds with an electronic receiver inserted in each ear. These receivers are attached to a Y cord with a plug on the end to hook into a radio. This aids in communication between the drivers and their crews.

Shooter Plugs

Custom earplug features a Sonic Valve with aluminum body which contains an acoustic valve that will close upon impact of loud noise. Designed for hunting, the custom earpiece allows the user to hear clearly until a weapon is fired in which the valve closes and gives the user hearing protection for gunfire or other loud noise.

HearSavers

Custom fit, personal HearSavers are the most comfortable of all hearing protectors. They are exact replicas of the ear. Many people have unusually shaped canals, which make the comfortable fitting and wearing of standard or disposable earplugs difficult if not impossible to wear for long periods of time.

Hands Free

Emtech Laboratories, Inc. can make custom fit earmolds for cell phones, mp3 players, ipod, etc. Perfect for use at home or in the office having both hands free

Communication Earpieces

There are 3 different styles of TV Communication Molds available.

Acoustic Modifications/ Terminology

Acoustic modifications of earmolds are as useful to you as the controls on the hearing instrument. They are fine tuning devices to work in conjunction with the controls of the instrument.

We have set specific standards on these modifications so you will not be misled by terminologies. It is not possible to cover all hearing losses and makes/models of aids with these standards. When they do not meet your needs, tell us. We will make the modifications to your specifications.

VENT ~ A vent may be installed in any mold per your requested specifications or based on audiogram.

SHORT CANAL ~ When this modification is requested, the canal will be shortened to 1/4 of an inch past the aperture. Because of the loss of retention, this is not advised with a canal mold. If 1/4 inch does not meet your needs, please specify by putting a mark around the canal of your impression and write under special instructions “short canal where marked”.

OPEN BORE (BELLED BORE)~ The canal tip of your mold is hollowed out approximately 1/4 inch deep. Open bore is a common order in conjunction with a short canal. We do not shorten the canal unless requested.

HI FREQUENCY ~ This modification is available in any style and material. This mold has a short canal with an open bore and an SAV. The most popular are skeletons and semi-skeletons made of Lucite.

NON-OCCLUDING ~ These molds are available in skeleton and semi-skeleton styles and in any material. The most popular, of course, is Lucite. All these styles may be made with long or short canals. If you do not specify canal length, we make the non-occluding molds with short canals. A non-occluding #1 is a regular non-occluding mold (does not fill up the canal of the ear). A non-occluding #2 has an SAV added.

SAV ~ Rings for insertion in the earmold are softer and can be used in any material. They are supplied attached to a tree and can be pulled off as required for greater efficiency. Six sizes are supplied with each request . (The trees are also sold separately as a supply item.)

MINI SAV ~ This is a smaller and less conspicuous version of the SAV. Sizes are as follows.
